At the peak of his popularity, he developed a chronic case of hoarseness and laryngitis consequently doctors were unable to find a physiological cause. After years of meticulous observation and experimentation, he cured his vocal problems and evolved a method that profoundly changed peoples’ lives.

What to Expect as a Student

Gentle hand-on guidance and verbal instructions are given to help students gain proficiency in basic movements. In each lesson, we will explore habits in everyday activities for example standing, walking, climbing, and sitting. A lesson consists of several different parts and will be designed according to your needs. Students will be asked to lie fully clothed on a table to help integrate the concept of “not-pulling down” and depending on your needs, an awareness of your movement in everyday activity.

We can tailor our study in addition to the awareness of your habits. For example playing the piano to working towards a triathlon, from singing to working at a computer – Alexander Technique is perfect for anyone. Private lessons at the Strength in Balance studio are 45 to 60 minutes in length. In addition, we recommend taking 10 lesson’s close together to integrate and empower the student’s new learning patterns. Improvement in this method relies on the student’s active participation.
